Playing & Listening

I have an oddly diverse range of musical taste. I’m a huge fan of progressive and heavy metal—favorites include Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Ayreon, Judas Priest, and Savatage. I also listen to modern jazz (e.g., E.S.T.), classic ballads (Julie London, Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald), and classical music (Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky). You’ll also catch Turkish artists like Barış Manço, Birsen Tezer, and Jehan Barbur in my playlists.

I like to play progressive rock/metal and hard rock on the guitar. Piano is occasional, but electric guitar is home. Here are a few DT covers; more are on my channel:

A Change of Seasons
Under a Glass Moon
Erotomania

Composing

I like composing experimental pieces with electronic samples of instruments like violin and flute. These days I write less than before, but I still make pieces for my wife when I can:

Prayer
Jenny

Here are some smaller ideas that aren’t full songs (yet):

Solstice
Ergen (adolescent)
Shift
Cihangir (İstanbul)

Here’s a 2014 birthday piece for my mom—no guitar on this one because I didn’t yet have an audio interface:

Gear

Here’s the current list of gear that I mainly use for playing/composing music:
